The 26th of May will host the fourth day of the 2019 Bangalore Summer Meeting. On this Sunday, there are seven horse races on the schedule, involving horses from all age groups and ratings. For our latest Indian horse racing tips, we will be looking at two of the most interesting and intriguing race cards as usual. Here, in our humble opinion, are the contest you should have your eye on at the sportsbooks come Sunday.

What Are Our Indian Horse Racing Tips For The Weekend?

1. The Chettinad Stud Plate

Scheduled to take place as the third event of the day at around 3:30 PM, the Chettinad Stud Plate is a Class 3 race open to horses four years or older. At 1200, it is a relatively short race ideally suited for the sprinters. The purse for the event is worth INR 5,83,200 (6605 GBP). The horses involved in this race have to be between 30 and 50 in the ratings. With twelve horses in the running, the field is therefore pretty crowded.

Nevertheless, here are our Indian horse racing tips for the three you should be keen on:

– Top Picks

Bold Move

A five-year-old bay gelding sired by Sussex off Manavi, Bold Move is currently from the stables of Irfan Ghatala. On Sunday, jockey D R Shubham will pilot him. With a recent track record of 3-3-8-1-2 (all in 1200m races), Bold Move is also quite an interesting proposition for Sunday’s race.

War Hero

Trained by Neil Darashah, this dark brown gelding is the highest rated horse in the race card for Sunday. Sired by Strong Suit off Donttellmewhattodo, War Hero has a decent form chart that runs 4-3-2-10-1 in the last five races. He will have jockey Peter in the saddle for the Chettinad Stud Plate.

Wings of Desire

This four-year-old bay filly was born off Blue Horizon and sired by Excellent Art. Furthermore, she belongs to  the stables of trainer S Dominic and on Sunday, P S Chouhan will ride her. In the upcoming race, Wings of Desire looks good for a win. Especially with a quite impressive run in the past five races, 2-1-1-5-8, (all wins in 1200m events),

Our Pick – Wings of Desire to get back to her winning way. This is a good pick if the odds makers list her at 5/1, with War Hero running her close. For a long shot punt, however, the impressive Bold Move looks like a good option.

2. The Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Cup

Without a doubt, this is the most important race of the day. The Grade 3 event is open to horses aged four and above. The total prize pool of this event in 2019 is INR 1000000 (GBP 11,000). A 1400m race, it will be the fourth event of the day scheduled for a 4 PM start at the Bangalore Race Course. The race card shows nine horses in the running, out of which our Indian horse racing tips consider the following to be the best picks:

– Top Picks

Mauritania

Sired by Excellent Art off Classic Sky, this bay gelding has been on fire of late. The horse’s recent record reads 1-2-1-2-1. It would be madness not to have this five-year-old at least in the top three picks for the Wadiyar Cup, if not as the outright winner. Coming from the stables of S Padmanabhan, Mauritania will subsequently be in the capable hands of jockey A Sandesh on Sunday.

Tutankhamun

Yet another 5-year-old bay gelding, Tutankhamun is trained by S Narredu and has stats that read 1-1-2-3-5 in the last five races. His form has tailed off a bit in recent days, but he still remains a potent threat for the upcoming race. Sired by Phoenix Tower off Dancerllon, this gelding will be piloted by the ever-dependable jockey P Trevor in the Sunday race.

Corfe Castle

Coming from the stables of L D Silva, Corfe Castle is a young colt (4-years) with some impressive performances under his belt. He has two wins (1200m, 1600m) in his last five starts and the record goes 4-1-1-5-9. A half-brother of Mauritania (sired by Excellent Art), Corfe Castle should therefore be a strong pick for the upcoming race.

Our Pick – We would go with the popular opinion and suggest Mauritania as the top pick if listings by the oddsmakers starts at 5/1, with his sibling Corfe Castle getting our nod as the second choice. As for a long shot, there aren’t much better options than Tutankhamun on the Sunday race card.
