IPL 2020 Playoffs Betting: Outright Winner
The fact that Mumbai and Delhi get two attempts at making the final automatically makes them the two favourites.
After storming the Group Stages, it’s Mumbai who are the outright favourites. It’s the best price of 2.25 available on Bet365 for them to go on to win it. They certainly have the players for it. The IPL trophy-winning experience will count as well. Also, they have a top coach in Mahela Jayawardene. However, there is a strange quirk whereby all their four IPL wins were secured in years with an odd number. So maybe they are not justified favourites after all.
Bet365 and Betway are the places to go if you want to back the Delhi Capitals. They’re offering a top price of 3.5 on Shreyas Iyer and co. After an impressive win over RCB this week, they may be re-finding their form when it matters.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – This Season’s Underdogs?
Needing three straight wins to be crowned champions are RCB and the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They’ll need to win the Eliminator (against each other) and then the Qualifier 2. That will be against the loser of the Mumbai vs Delhi clash. And then of course they’ll need to win the final itself.
Betway are going best price on both, with 7.0 on Bangalore and 6.5 on the Sunrisers. Of the two, Hyderabad look the pick.
They’ve won three on the spin, against the IPL’s top three, no less. Their key players like Rashid Khan, David Warner and Jason Holder are in great nick right now. Pace bowler Sandeep Sharma is in the form of his life. Momentum could take them very close indeed.
To Reach the Final
If it’s too much of an ask for SRH to go all the way, then how about making the final? If SRH win their Eliminator and the Qualifier 2, they’ll make it. You can back them at 3.5 to do just that. And then not worry about what happens in the big game.
It’s 3.75 that Bangalore can manage it but they’ve been so inconsistent all tournament. Hard to se them winning two huge matches in a row. It’s 1.4 Delhi to make the final and 1.22 Mumbai. All prices with Betway.
Top Tournament Runscorer
The good news if you backed KR Rahul in this market is that he’s on 670 runs. 141 clear of second-placed David Warner. The bad news is that with the Kings XI out of the IPL, he won’t bat again.
Odds of 1.22 (Bet365/Betway) suggest that won’t matter and that he’s too many runs ahead already. But consider that Warner (6.5 with Betway) may have up to three attempts to make up those 141 runs. SRH could play three more games and scores in all three for Warner could mean things are pretty tight on the top runscorer leaderboard. He’s certainly in form.
The case of Shikhar Dhawan is a slightly different one. He’s four runs behind Warner and though he can’t play three more games, he’s guaranteed two. Warner, of course, may only play the one game, if they lose to RCB on Friday. Dhawan is a top price of 7.0 with Bet365.
IPL 2020 Playoffs Betting: Top Bowler
A few days it was extremely tight at the top. Kagiso Rabada of Delhi, the leader throughout, was on 23 wickets. As was Mumbai’s Jasprit Bumrah. Fortunately for Rabada backers, he took two wickets against Bangalore to go to 25. Bumrah on the other hand was rested against SRH and obviously didn’t take any.
So, two ahead, Rabada is favourite again on 1.5 with Betway. Bumrah is back to 3.6 but has been getting better and better over the course of the tournament. His death bowling has been exceptional.
It may be too much of a mission for the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Boult (20 wickets each). They’d need to get to 25, and then pass Rabada. But you never know. It’s 12.0 Boult and 15.0 Chahal, prices with Bet365.
Regarding the latter two, it’s the same scenario as above with Dhawan and Warner. Chahal could only play one more game, but potentially three. Boult will definitely play two but won’t play three.
Top Mumbai Batsman
Away from the IPL outrights, you can bet on who will be top batsman for a particular team.
The closest race here is in the Mumbai one. South African T20 skipper Quinton de Kock leads the way on 443 runs. Ishan Kishan has 428 and S. Yadav has scored 410. Remarkable that after 14 matches, things are so tight amongst the Mumbai willow men.
De Kock is favourite at 1.53 with Betway. Kishan is 3.6 and Yadav is out at 6.0.
With so little to choose between them on runs scored, go with Yadav at the biggest price. He’s in good nick and bats at three. So, will surely have at least one good chance to make a claim for Mumbai top bat.
