UFC 260 is set to take place on March 27 at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas with no fans in attendance. This could very well be the last PPV card taking place in front of an empty stadium as UFC President Dana White is looking to get back to bringing in fans and having full arenas in April.
The UFC had initially scheduled two championship fights to take place at UFC260. The Main Event was Miocic vs. Ngannou 2 and the co-main event was another championship fight in the featherweight division between champ Alex Volkanovski and Brian Ortega. The UFC had to cancel this fight after Volkanovski contracted COVID-19.
Miocic vs. Ngannou 2
Heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic who is widely regarded as the GOAT of the heavyweight division is set to face the number one contender in Francis Ngannou again. The two heavyweights first fought in Jan 2018 and it turned out to be a rather one sided contest as Miocic used his wrestling against Ngannou who was exhausted after the first round and was powerless on the ground for most of the fight.
Miocic won that fight by unanimous decision and will likely look to use the same strategy against Ngannou on March 27. However, Ngannou has worked hard on both his cardio and ground game and is confident that he will get the better of Stipe Micocic in the second fight. Bet365 agrees with Ngannou as they have him as the betting favorite at 1.80 while the champ Miocic is at 2.00.
Ngannou has run through the heavyweight division with his brutal KO power and his last four fights have all ended in the first round. The big challenge for Ngannou is how will he perform if Miocic takes him into the championship rounds. Will his cardio hold up? How well has his ground game improved?
Our MMA experts are going to back the champ to win again as there are too many X factors that need to be answered when it comes to Ngannou. If you are looking for a reliable sports betting site, choose any one from our featured list.
Woodley vs. Luque
Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley will take on the exciting Vincent Luque in the new co-main event. The bookmakers have Luque as the heavy betting favorite with odds of 1.40 while Woodley has odds of 3.00. It’s easy to see why Woodley is the underdog as ‘The Chosen One’ has lost his last three fights and another loss could potentially end his career in the UFC.
Woodley has failed to pull the trigger in his last three fights and that has cost him. He knows that he is under pressure to secure a win against Luque but that’s going to be a challenge as Luque is a fantastic striker and also has a good ground game. We are going to go with the bookmakers and back Luque to win.
O’Malley vs. Almedia
Sugar Sean O’Malley will look to bounce back after suffering his first loss in the Octagon to Marlon Vera. O’Malley has refused to accept that loss saying that he lost because his leg gave out on him and still considers himself unbeaten. The bookmakers like his confidence and have him as the favorite with odds of 1.30 against Almeida who has odds of 3.50.
O’Malley was hyped by the UFC as the next big thing and if he wins impressively against Almeida, he will once again have the momentum behind his name. However, Almeida is going to be a stiff challenge for O’Malley as he has good striking and is no slouch on the ground. We are going to back Almeida to derail the Sugar train in this fight.
