UFC 265 – Derrick Lewis vs. Cyril Gane
UFC President Dana White wanted Derrick Lewis to fight UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou in August but due to his schedule Ngannou said he could only fight in September. Dana White wasn’t happy with that answer and decided to schedule an interim title fight between Lewis and Gane for UFC 265.
Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis is known for his KO power as he has the most number of KOs in the heavyweight division whereas Gane is more a technical striker with some good submissions. This is going to be an exciting match for the fans as Gane has already revealed his gameplan.
He plans on dancing in and out during the fight, looking for an opening to take out Lewis but at the same time win points with the judges and win each round. Lewis made his intentions clear and said he is prepared for a 5 round fight but does not think that it will go the distance.
Bet365 have the undefeated Gane as a big betting favorite with odds of 1.30 while the Black Beast is the underdog with odds of 3.50. Lewis might be the betting underdog but he is most certainly the fan favorite as they are fighting in his hometown.
Lewis looks in good shape and has shown time and again that he can change the entire fight with one punch. We are going to back Derrick Lewis to win and become the interim heavyweight champ.
UFC 265 – Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz
The co-main event was initially scheduled to be a UFC bantamweight fight between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena. The fight had to be cancelled after Nunes contacted COVID and Aldo vs. Munhoz was pushed up to the co-main event.
The two Brazilians are both exceptional strikes and fans can expect to see a high level striking match. Aldo is the former UFC featherweight champ who is now looking to make a run at bantamweight. He goes in as a slight favorite with odds of 1.80 while Munhoz is the underdog with odds of 2.0.
One of Aldo’s biggest weapons is his kicks and he will have to use it a lot more against Munhoz if he is going to win. Munhoz has heavy hands and is also no slouch on the ground. If Aldo can take this fight to a decision, we believe he can come out with a win.
