The 2021 VIVO IPL will commence on April 9 and will run till May 30. The defending champions are the Mumbai Indians who will be looking to create history and win three IPL trophies in a row. We take a look at the outright winner betting odds and give you our picks. You can bet on any of the below sites.
Chennai Super Kings: have betting odds of 8.00 after their poor performance in the 2020 IPL. MS Dhoni will once again skipper the side but this time he will have his Suresh Raina back at number 3. CSK will also have new faces in the squad as Moeen Ali and C Pujara have been added in along with a number of young domestic players. R Jadeja is also expected to make his return to the squad.
Mumbai Indians: are the betting favorites with odds of 4.33. R Sharma will look to lead the side to its 6th IPL Championship and will have his reliable bunch of core players in the Pandya brothers, Kieron Pollard and J Bumrah. Mumbai Indians have also brought in more talent through the IPL auction with Adam Milne and Piyush Chawla.
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli will once again skipper RCB who have odds of 6.50. RCB spent heavily during the player auction and brought in Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell. RCB have a great chance of winning the 2021 IPL if they can get their playing XI combination right. They have a number of match winners in their side including AB Devilliers.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: continue to be amongst the top four teams to make the playoffs on a regular basis. Bookmakers have given SRH odds of 7.00 as they have a balanced squad. SRH will depend heavily on captain David Warner once again and SRH management will be hoping he is fit and available for the full tournament. New Faces in the SRH squad include Mujeeb Ur Rahman and K Jadhav.
Delhi Capitals: have odds of 6.50 and are expected to make the playoffs. The Delhi Capitals have done well under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and they look a stronger unit with a number of key buys during the IPL auction. The Capitals picked up Steven Smith, Tom Curran, Sam Billings and Umesh Yadav. If the Capitals can get off to a good start this season, they will pose a big threat to the Mumbai Indians and SRH.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Eoin Morgan will skipper KKR who should be able to make the playoffs this year as they have a good squad. Bookmakers have them at 7.00 because of their poor performance in 2020 when they finished fifth. KKR have retained their core players in Andre Russell, Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik. New players in the squad include Shakib Al Hasan and Harbhajan Singh.
Punjab Kings: have a new team name after dropping Kings XI Punjab. They also have many new faces in the squad as the team owners are keen on changing the fortunes for the side. Bookmakers don’t expect them to do well in the 2021 IPL and have given them odds of 10.00. KL Rahul will skipper the side that include expensive player purchases in Aussie pacers Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith. Punjab Kings have also strengthen their batting by picking up England’s Dawid Malan and the hard hitting Shahrukh Khan.
Rajasthan Royals: They won the first edition of the IPL but since then have not looked like a championship team. Bookmakers have given the Royals odds of 10.00 and don’t expect them to make the playoffs. The Royals have given Sanju Samson the leadership and have retained key players in Ben Stokes, Jos Butler and Jofra Archer. New players include Chris Morris, Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldip Yadav and Shivam Dube.
Verdict: We expect either KKR or RCB to win the 2021 IPL Championship.
