As we head into a new year, the Winter Season at Mysore Race Club is already in full swing. Race day 12 falls on January 5^th, with a schedule of 7 races. All of the contests fall into Classes 2-5.

Our top race for the day is The Chitradurga Plate, the highest category event of the day. This one is a Class 2 race for horses rated 60 and above. The race has a total purse of INR 261840 awaiting the winners.

On the race card, you will find a crowded field of nine competitors. Since this is a 1400m race, speed and early pace will play a larger role. The fifth race of the day, the Chitradurga Plate has a scheduled start time of 04:30 PM.

We feel this will be a three-horse race, with Star of Thea, Contributor, and D Gold expected to lead the pack. Based on race experience recent runs, Star of Thea is heavily favored, as he almost always races in Class 1 or 2 events. Star of Thea has odds of 3.50 which gives the horse an implied win probability of 28.57%.

Star of Thea will get stiff competition from Contributor, another gelding who is a regular in these higher-rated races. Both are great options at odds of around 3.50 or 4.00, yielding INR 350 to 400 on a 100 bet.

Of the rest, we like D Gold as an outside contender. He is on winning form, albeit at lower-ranked races. With odds of around 7.00, he is a good option for a medium-high risk punt at the top horse racing betting sites.

The 6-year-old progeny of Arazan has only raced sparingly so far, with just 13 starts. But he has scored an impressive haul of 4 wins and 7 places, giving him a 76 rating for this race. Trained by  CD Monnappa, D Gold has a recent record of 3-3-5-3-1. Jockey H Rahul will be hoping to extend that win into a streak in this race.

4. Script writer – Whatsthescript (IRE) – Aplysia (USA)

The oldest horse in this race, this 9-year-old bay mare comes with a 73 rating. She has 5 wins and 22 places from her 37 starts, proving her to be a reliable runner. She is a stablemate of D Gold and has a somewhat inconsistent recent record –4-3-1-9-4. Her jockey in this upcoming race is R Ajay Kumar.

5. Crimson fire – Crimson China (USA) – Friendly Type

A 7-year-old bay mare trained by Pratap Kamath, this one is in decent form with a record of 2-2-5-5-1 from her last five. Overall, she has 38 races with 4 wins and 14 places. She gets a 70 rating for this race. Nazar Alam will be her jockey.

9. Good earth – Sussex (GB) – Trivia

The 8-year-old chestnut stallion is the lowest-rated horse in this race at 63. But his recent run is not atrocious, with 3 places out of five runs – 4-8-8-3-2.
